Long Beach is South Caicos’ signature beach and the largest stretch of sand on the island — a wide, open expanse of powdery white sand and brilliant turquoise water along the southeastern coastline that manages to feel genuinely enormous even by Caribbean standards. The residential community of Sailrock sits along the beach, but the shoreline itself is vast enough that solitude is never hard to find. On calm days the water here offers some of the island’s best snorkelling, with the adjacent coral reefs supporting turtles, rays, and colourful reef fish. The beach faces east and the combination of the open Atlantic horizon, the extraordinary water colour, and the scale of the empty shoreline creates a visual impact that is entirely its own.
Why Go — For the island’s largest and most beautiful beach, exceptional water colour and clarity, excellent snorkelling on calm days, and a sense of scale and openness that makes it feel like the Caribbean the way it used to be.
Best For — Beach walks · Swimming · Snorkellers · Photographers · Visitors wanting South Caicos’ most expansive and memorable coastal experience · Anyone staying at Sailrock
Insider Tip — Bring your camera — South Caicos is known for some of the most vivid and photogenic shades of blue and turquoise in all of Turks & Caicos, and Long Beach at its best showcases that colour as well as anywhere on the island. Snorkelling is highly weather-dependent here; calm morning conditions produce the best visibility and the most rewarding underwater experience.
