Dellis Cay

Dellis Cay is an uninhabited island in the Caicos Cays, notable as the former site of the ambitious and now-abandoned Dellis Cay Project — a planned ultra-luxury resort development that was halted and never completed, leaving the island in a state of beautiful and peaceful abandonment. The beach here is excellent for shell collecting and beachcombing, with an unusually rich variety of shells washing ashore, and the island’s uncrowded and unhurried character makes it one of the quieter and more contemplative cay stops available from Providenciales.

Why Go — For a beautiful and uncrowded Caicos Cays beach, exceptional shell collecting and beachcombing, and the quietly atmospheric experience of exploring an island where an extraordinary development was begun and then stopped — nature reclaiming what was briefly interrupted.

Best For — Beachcombers · Shell collectors · Photographers · Quiet beach seekers · Boat charter guests wanting a less visited cay stop

Getting There — Accessible by boat from Providenciales. Included on some charter itineraries; most commonly reached via private charter.

Insider Tip — Walk the full shoreline of Dellis Cay for the best shell collecting — the variety and quality of shells here is significantly above what is typically found on the more visited beaches of Providenciales. The abandoned development infrastructure on the island adds an unexpectedly interesting layer to what would otherwise be a straightforward beach stop.
