Sandy Point Beach

Found at the northwest edge of North Caicos near the Sandy Point Marina, this lonely two-mile stretch of coastline is one of the island’s more intriguing and exploratory beach destinations. The beach itself is a mix of sand and rock along its length, but the real draw is the extraordinary landscape of sandbars, channels, and shallows at its northwestern end — where the Parrot Cay Channel has been gradually filling in with sand over the past decade and a half, creating a constantly evolving and strikingly beautiful coastal environment. Views across the channel to Parrot Cay and the COMO Parrot Cay Resort sit directly opposite. The eastern half of the beach offers more seclusion and a wilder, more remote character, with groves of thatch palm growing atop semi-lithified dune cliffs.

Why Go — For extraordinary sandbars and shallow turquoise channels, an exploratory coastal setting unlike anything else on North Caicos, and views across to Parrot Cay in a landscape that feels genuinely remote and unhurried.

Best For — Explorers · Beach walkers · Photographers · Visitors wanting a completely off-grid coastal experience · Anyone crossing to North Caicos who wants to venture beyond the main beaches

Insider Tip — Head to the northwestern end near the marina first to experience the sandbars and channels — this is the most visually spectacular section and the one that makes the detour feel immediately worthwhile. Be aware that Sandy Point can be more affected by sand fleas and mosquitoes than other North Caicos beaches due to its sheltered position; if conditions are unpleasant, Horsestable or Pumpkin Bluff Beach are good alternatives.
